Slingshot Build — Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes what you may and may not do when using Slingshot Build, operated by Slingshot Labs LLC ("Slingshot," "we," "us"). It is part of, and incorporated into, our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms.

This AUP applies to all use of the Service — and especially to any content you build, commit, inject, preview, deploy, or publish through Slingshot, including content served on *.slingshot.build subdomains and content routed through our deployment pipeline to a custom domain.

Plain-language summary (not a substitute for the full AUP): Don't use Slingshot to build or publish anything illegal, malicious, or abusive; don't attack or overload our systems; don't try to dodge per-site billing; and take responsibility for the third-party snippets you inject. If you break these rules, we can remove content, unpublish your site, or close your account. Report abuse at slingshot.build/abuse.

1. You are responsible for your content and your sites

You are solely responsible for everything you create, commit, inject, and publish through the Service, and for ensuring it is lawful and complies with this AUP and the rights of others. We do not pre-screen content and have no obligation to monitor it — but we may review, remove, or disable any content or site, at any time, at our discretion.

2. Prohibited content

You may not use the Service to create, host, commit, inject, preview, deploy, publish, link to, or distribute content that:

  • Is illegal or promotes, facilitates, or instructs others in illegal activity under any applicable law.
  • Sexually exploits or endangers minors in any way. This includes child sexual abuse material (CSAM), any sexualized depiction of minors, and grooming or solicitation. This is an absolute, zero-tolerance prohibition. We will remove such content, terminate the account, preserve relevant information, and report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or law enforcement as required by law.
  • Is sexually explicit or pornographic. Sexually explicit material, pornography, and commercial sexual services are not permitted on Slingshot-served sites.
  • Infringes or misappropriates intellectual-property rights, including copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, or rights of publicity, or that you do not have the rights to use.
  • Is fraudulent, deceptive, or misleading, including scams, fake storefronts, deceptive "phishing" pages, fake login or payment pages, pyramid or Ponzi schemes, counterfeit goods, or impersonation of any person, brand, or organization.
  • Is malicious or harmful code, including malware, viruses, worms, trojans, ransomware, spyware, keyloggers, or anything designed to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to systems or data.
  • Harasses, threatens, defames, or bullies any person, or incites or promotes violence, terrorism, self-harm, or hatred against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics.
  • Violates others' privacy, including doxxing, publishing personal or sensitive information without authorization, or unlawful surveillance.
  • Concerns regulated or dangerous goods and activities where doing so is unlawful, including illegal drugs, weapons or explosives, or unlicensed gambling, financial, or pharmaceutical activity.
  • Is spam or supports spam operations, bulk unsolicited messaging, link farms, or deceptive SEO/cloaking.

3. Prohibited conduct (technical and platform abuse)

You may not:

  • Abuse the deployment or preview pipeline — for example, deploying content unrelated to a genuine website project, using preview/free deployments to serve production traffic at scale, hosting arbitrary files as a generic CDN or file-storage backend, or operating link shorteners, proxies, or redirect services to evade detection.
  • Circumvent or game billing — including serving multiple distinct live sites through a single project, sharing one paid subscription across unrelated sites or parties, or otherwise structuring usage to avoid per-site fees.
  • Exceed fair-use resource limits. Each published paid site includes the bandwidth then stated on our pricing page (currently 100 GB/month). Sustained or excessive use of bandwidth, build minutes, requests, or storage that materially exceeds normal use for the plan may be throttled, may require an upgrade, or may be suspended. Free preview sites are for development and review, not production traffic.
  • Attack, probe, or interfere with the Service or others — including denial-of-service attacks, unauthorized penetration testing or vulnerability scanning of our systems without prior written permission, attempts to access accounts, data, repositories, or deployments that are not yours, or interference with our deploy relay, Workers, routing, or other infrastructure.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or overload the Service, except to the limited extent that applicable law permits and these Terms do not override.
  • Use the Service for cryptocurrency mining, distributed computing, or other workloads unrelated to building and serving a website.
  • Misuse authentication or tokens — including attempting to extract, forge, or reuse deploy tokens, GitHub tokens, or any Slingshot or third-party credentials.
  • Bypass or interfere with content controls, takedowns, rate limits, or security measures we put in place.

4. Injected third-party snippets are your responsibility

The Inject feature writes your own snippets (e.g., analytics, pixels, embeds such as GA4, Plausible, Meta Pixel, Mailchimp, Calendly) into your own repository. Slingshot does not run, proxy, meter, or take responsibility for those services. You are responsible for:

  • ensuring any snippet you inject is lawful, safe, and authorized for your use;
  • complying with all applicable privacy, cookie-consent, tracking, and disclosure laws (for example, providing required cookie banners, privacy notices, and consent mechanisms for analytics and advertising trackers); and
  • the behavior and data practices of any third-party service you embed.

You may not inject code that is malicious, that secretly harvests data, or that violates this AUP or any law.

5. AI-generated content

Slingshot does not generate content and does not make AI calls for you. If you bring content created with AI tools, you are responsible for that content — including its accuracy, legality, and whether it infringes third-party rights — exactly as if you had written it yourself.

6. Enforcement

We may take any action we consider appropriate for an actual or suspected violation of this AUP or the Terms, including:

  • removing or disabling content;
  • unpublishing, rate-limiting, or taking down a site;
  • suspending or terminating accounts or subscriptions;
  • preserving and disclosing information where required by law or to protect the Service, our users, or the public; and
  • cooperating with law enforcement.

We may act with or without prior notice, and we are not required to give a reason in advance, although we will try to where practical. We have no obligation to monitor content, but we reserve the right to do so. Enforcement decisions are at our discretion, and we are not liable to you for any good-faith enforcement action. Nothing in this AUP limits any other right or remedy available to us under the Terms or the law.

Because Slingshot is built so you are never locked in, an enforcement action that unpublishes or removes a site does not affect your underlying code, which remains in your own GitHub repository, or your domain, which remains at your registrar.

7. Reporting abuse

If you believe a site or content served through Slingshot violates this AUP or the law, please report it:

For copyright complaints specifically, use the DMCA process in §18 of the Terms of Service. Please include the URL, a description of the issue, and how to contact you. We review reports and act as we consider appropriate; submitting a report does not guarantee a particular outcome, and we may decline reports that are abusive, automated, or made in bad faith.

8. Changes to this Policy

We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be posted with a new "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated AUP.
